Senior Citizens of Surallah, South Cotabato visits Mina, Iloilo

Educational Tours are meant to be productive venue in exchange of ideas, site visit for replicability purposes and benchmarking for future endeavors. Truly, this has been the main agenda of the Senior Citizens Barangay Presidents from the Municipality of Surallah, South COtabato. They were warmly welcomed by the former Mayor and now Executive Assistant V, Lydia E. Grabato in behalf of Hon. Rey P. Grabato, Municipal Mayor of Mina last March 1, 2018. The visitors were referred by the DSWD Regional Office because Mina was the Most Elderly Friendly Municipality in the Province of Iloilo for 2017.

The delegation of Mina that received the guests from Surallah includes the barangay Presidents, FSCAP President Mr. Ernesto Parreno and OSCA Head Mrs. Virginia Borra. Also in attendance representing the Regional Office was the President of the WV Chapter and Board of Director of the National Chapter of FSCAP, Mrs. Erlinda Garlit.

FELLOW MINANHONS!!!

THIS 2018, OUR BELOVED MINA IS PROUDLY 50 YEARS OLD. WE WILL CELEBRATE A ONCE IN A LIFETIME GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY OF MINA AS AN INDEPENDENT MUNICIPALITY. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WE HAVE ACTIVITIES LINED-UP IN RELATION TO OUR FESTIVITY. HIGHLIGHTS OF THESE ACTIVITIES AND GRAND CELEBRATION ARE ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2018 TO COMMEMORATE THIS IMPORTANT EVENT.

REPUBLIC ACT 5442 WAS APPROVED BY OUR CONGRESS, CREATING MINA AS AN INDEPENDENT MUNICIPALITY. IT WAS SIGNED INTO LAW BY THEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES PRESIDENT FERDINAND E. MARCOS ON SEPTEMBER 9, 1968.

Some important proposed activities:

September 8, 2018

1. Launching of the Book, “ Ang Maragtas sang Mina” (How Mina came to be).
2. Recognition of Mina Municipal Museum by the National Historical Commission. Viewing of collections of “Mina from the past” at the Museum.
3. Mina Football Field-Invitational Games

September 9, 2018

1. Concelebrated Mass in the morning to be followed by a Grand Parade and Cultural Field Demonstrations. Past parish Priest Assigned to Mina with other Priests and Nuns who originated in Mina will be invited to participate in the Mass.
2. Presentation of the Golden Anniversary Celebration “Queen of Mina” ambassadress of goodwill with the members of her court.
3. Recognition of Outstanding Minanhons for the past 50 years.
4. Testimonial Dinner and Awarding of Outstanding Minanhons with Vin d’Honneur’ or Wine of Honour (“Alak ng Karangalan”) to our awardees.

Sangguniang Bayan Ordinance Ordinance #2018-334 shall identify the categories for the award (re: Public Services, Education, Health, Sports, Religious, Donors, etc.) and formulate Rules and Guidelines to determine the awardees.

Executive Order# 2018-008 creating a committee to determine Minanhons for the awards and recognition.

February 15 until August 30, 2018

Request for donations (fund raising) to be used for the upgrading of Rural Health Center equipment. (re x-ray, ultrasound machine, ECG, clinical laboratory equipment, etc.) and Mina Skills Training Center equipment. Drum Corps equipment for MNHS and DepEd Elementary.

December 2018 “Paskwa Halad sa Banwa”

This whole activity shall be kept (stored) in the time capsule constructed for their purpose, hopefully will be opened by the next generation Minanhons after 100 years.

The eGOV Awards  or Awards for Excellence in ICT for Good Governance for Local Government Units is an annual search for the best practices in local government units in utilizing information and  communications technology (ICT) to effectively and efficiently deliver its public services directly to its constituents and to its business stakeholders.

This year, in the 6th Awards for Excellence in ICT for Good Governance for Local Government Units or eGOV Awards for their outstanding information and communication technology (ICT) systems the Municipal Agriculture Information System – Farmers Agriculture Resource Management System (MAIS-FARMS) of Mina, Iloilo emerged as Champion for the Best in Business Empowerment (G2B) Category last November 17, 2017. The awarding ceremony is part of the 9th National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) ICT Summit which started on November 16 at Cagayan de Oro City.

Children’s Congress and Coronation Day November 9, 2017

As Republic Act No. 10661 declares every November as the National Children’s Month. the Day Care Workers of the Department of Social and Welfare Development of Mina celebrates the 25th year of the National Children’s Month Celebration with the theme “Bata: Iligtas Laban sa Droga!

The program started with a parade of Muses for the Coronation Day, Day Care Workers and Pupils from different barangays.  Day Care Pupils from different barangays performed folk dances to entertain guests and visitors, and a Dance competition of parents, singing contest and a drawing contest of selected day care pupils were also conducted.

Municipality of Mina received the Seal of Good Education Governance

The Municipality of Mina is among the 24 LGU recipient of the Synergeia Foundation’s Seal of Good Education Governance, LGUs that was recognized for their outstanding efforts in delivering good education to their constituents on the 11th National Education Summit last September 29, 2017. Each recipient gets an incentive package from PLDT and Smart Communications worth up to P1.5 million each.

Blessing and Inauguration of Newly Concreted Amiroy-Badiangan Road, September 27, 2017

Hon. Mayor Rey P. Grabato together with 3rd District Board Member Nonoy Lorenz  Defensor led the blessing and inauguration of newly concreted  Amiroy (Bangga Puring)-Badiangan road at Brgy. Amiroy, Mina, Iloilo.

The project was constructed thru the Department of Interior and Local Government Assistance to Disadvantage Municipality (ADM) Program availed by the Municipality of Mina, Province of Iloilo.

ASEAN 50th Grand Celebration/ Landmark Lighting

The Municipality of Mina  together with 72 participating LGUs nationwide joined in the Landmark Lighting Activity, a significant event to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and to help contribute to raising the level of awareness of the public on the importance and benefits of the ASEAN community on August 8, 2017.

The event was celebrated with the Minanhons and guests Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism VI, Dir. Teodora P. Sumagaysay Provincial Director, DILG Iloilo, Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III, Regional Director of the DILG Region VI, First Lady of the Province of Iloilo Mrs. Cosette Defensor, Municipal Mayors lead by Hon. Jett Rojas, President- LMP Iloilo Chapter, Hon. Tomas Penaflorida, Pototan Municipal Mayor, Hon. Mark Palabrica, Bingawan Municipal Mayor, Hon. Vice Mayor Cesar Gonzales of Lambunao, Hon. Vice Mayor Bernardino Chichirita of Mina, Former Mayor Hon. Lydia E. Grabato, and Mina OIC- Chief of Police Ma. Theresa Lero, DepEd Supervisors, Different Brgy. Organizations and Sectors.

Exhibition of Mina National High School Drum and Bugle Corps, Cultural Presentation, Overview about ASEAN, Singing of ASEAN Way, ASEAN Song of Unity and ASEAN Spirit, the simultaneous lighting of Torch and ASEAN Lantern, and Fireworks Display was the highlight of the event. In addition to these is the Unveiling of the History Landmark of the Municipality of Mina.

Training on BLS and First Aid Batch 1 (August 1-3, 2017)

The Philippine Red Cross Iloilo Chapter in cooperation with Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office conducted training on Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support. This training were participated by the students of Mina National High School, Mina PNP, Mina Emergency Assistance Rescue Team, Elite Members, and selected Municipal Town Hall work force.
